How long does Invisalign take?

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that aligns teeth as an alternative to conventional wire and bracket braces. It consists of a series of clear, plastic trays that gradually move your teeth into a new position. Because your dentist takes accurate digital impressions of your teeth, you can be assured your aligners will fit tightly and comfortably.

Your treatment time will vary as each patient has unique issues with alignment, overbites, overlaps, gaps, or some combination of those problems. Every smile is different. Your average treatment time can be as little as six months up to two years.

To maintain your treatment, you will:

  • Wear your aligner 20-22 hours per day
  • Remove your aligner to eat and to brush and floss your teeth
  • Clean your trays with warm water and soak in a special tray cleaner
  • Change to your next tray after about 14 days
  • Continue with periodic dental visits to track your progress

You Can Watch Results Happen

One thing that helps you stick to your Invisalign treatments is watching the process unfold. As you wear each aligner for two weeks, you can see your teeth slowly move to their new alignment. This helps many patients feel inspired to maintain their treatment requirements faithfully.
